a BLAST round rivi

Rivington Pike was once the site of a beacon built to warn of the invasion of the Spanish Armada and stands 361m above sea-level. On clear days the pike can provide excellent views of Blackpool Tower and the Welsh Mountains.

The most prominent feature is the tower, built in 1733 it was originally used as a shelter for Grouse hunting parties. The tower was built from brick that once formed the base of the beacon but has now been bricked up and is a protected building.

The rugged and varied landscape makes it an ideal choice when you want to get out of the house. Rivington is much more than just a tower on a hill, just getting to the top is enjoyable. On ascent you will discover a network of Chinese gardens and terraces that are cleverly built into the landscape. All of which blend in and out of dense forest.

A truly magnificent location and well worth checking out.

You're not supposed to just copy some blurb out of a tourist leaflet you know. :)
